Kagome, a girl from the modern world who is the reincarnation of a priestess, and Inuyasha, a half demon, must work together in order to find all the pieces of the jewel. When the sacred jewel is shattered, the pieces scatter all over the country. This jewel can increase a demon's power, or can turn a half demon into a full demon or a full human. In a fantasy version of feudal era Japan, demons are as common as humans, and a special sacred jewel is wanted by nearly all of them.
